The Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies Fellowship at the New York Public Library (NYPL) is designed to support advanced research projects that make innovative use of the Library’s extensive and unique holdings related to the Arab world, Africa, Turkey, Iran, South Asia, Central Asia, and their diasporas in the United States. The fellowship provides scholars with access to original materials—including manuscripts, archives, books, photographs, prints, maps, newspapers, and journals—across various NYPL divisions. Fellows benefit from a dedicated workspace at the Vartan Gregorian Center for Research in the Humanities and opportunities for engagement with NYPL staff and the broader scholarly community. The program aims to foster significant scholarly or creative work and encourages applications from researchers in the humanities and the visual, performing, and literary arts.
