Scholars may teach undergraduate or graduate courses, collaborate on research (either designated by a host institution or self-directed), or pursue professional/artistic projects. The program aims to foster academic exchange, professional development, and strengthen international cooperation and understanding between the U.S. and host countries. Engagement with the local community through public talks, mentoring, and outreach is encouraged. Activities can span a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to agriculture, biology, business, education, engineering, environmental sciences, public health, social work, and more.
A Flex option is available for research and professional project activities, enabling multiple short-term stays over two years. Scholars are expected to attend a pre-departure orientation.
