The NAM Fellowship to Advance State Health Policy offers early-career health science scholars residing in Wisconsin a unique two-year opportunity to participate in evidence-based healthcare and public health studies at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Fellows remain at their home institutions while contributing 10–20% of their time to National Academies board activities, including participation in study committees, roundtables, and board meetings across areas such as Children, Youth, and Families; Food and Nutrition; Global Health; Health Care Services; Health Sciences Policy; and Population Health and Public Health Practice. Each fellow is paired with a senior NAM member as a mentor and is introduced to a national network of experts, policymakers, and leaders. The experience is designed to broaden perspectives, foster leadership, and support the integration of medicine and public health, with a strong focus on issues relevant to Wisconsin communities.
