Summary: Two-year fellowship for early-career Wisconsin health science scholars to engage in evidence-based health policy studies and leadership at the National Academies.
Key Information: Must be a non-tenured faculty member residing in Wisconsin; nomination and institutional endorsement required.
This two-year fellowship, administered by the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), provides early-career health science scholars from Wisconsin the opportunity to participate in evidence-based healthcare or public health studies aimed at improving patient care and access in both domestic and global healthcare systems. Fellows remain in their primary academic and research roles while contributing to the work of a designated board within the National Academies, such as Children, Youth, and Families; Food and Nutrition; Global Health; Health Care Services; Health Sciences Policy; or Population Health and Public Health Practice.
The fellowship experience includes mentorship from a NAM member, participation in study committees or roundtables, attendance at a one-week orientation, the NAM Annual Meeting, and board meetings. The program is designed to foster leadership and scholarship in health policy, with a focus on integrating medicine and public health and addressing health equity, rural health, and systems change relevant to Wisconsin communities.
