Summary: Two-year fellowship for early-career osteopathic physicians to engage in National Academies health policy work, receive mentorship, and advance leadership potential.

The fellowship offers early-career scholars holding a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine a unique, two-year professional development experience within the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Fellows remain at their primary academic institutions while dedicating 10–20% of their time to participate in the activities of a designated National Academies board (e.g., Children, Youth, and Families; Food and Nutrition; Global Health; Health Care Services; Health Sciences Policy; or Population Health and Public Health Practice). The program includes orientation, annual meetings, active participation in study committees or roundtables, and one-on-one mentorship from a senior National Academy of Medicine (NAM) member. Each fellow receives a $25,000 research grant to support their academic and professional growth. The experience is designed to broaden perspectives, build leadership skills, and connect fellows with a diverse network of leaders in health, science, and policy.
