Summary: Two-year fellowship for early-career osteopathic physicians to participate in health policy work at the National Academies and receive mentorship and research funding.
Key Information: Nomination required by NAM member or relevant osteopathic association; no indirect costs or salary offset allowed.
The fellowship offers early-career scholars holding a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine the opportunity to engage directly in health and medicine-related work at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Fellows remain at their primary academic institutions and are assigned to one of several National Academies boards (such as Children, Youth, and Families; Food and Nutrition; Global Health; Health Care Services; Health Sciences Policy; or Population Health and Public Health Practice). The program includes mentorship by a senior NAM member, participation in orientation and annual meetings, and active involvement in study committees or roundtables. Fellows contribute to reports and products that influence national health policy, while building a network with leaders across sectors. The fellowship is designed to foster the next generation of leaders in osteopathic medicine and health policy.
