Summary: Postdoctoral fellowship for research on synthesis and characterization of colloidal nanomaterials tailored for optoelectronics and quantum technologies at the Naval Research Laboratory.
Key Information: Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents holding a Ph.D. within 5 years; requires contacting Research Adviser prior to applying.
Description
This NRC Research Associateship Program (RAP) opportunity at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) supports postdoctoral research focused on the solution synthesis and detailed characterization of colloidal nanostructures for optoelectronic and quantum technology applications. The research aims to control nanostructure properties such as shape, size distribution, and composition to tailor their optical characteristics for use in devices including photovoltaics, light-emitting diodes, biological imaging, photodetectors, and single-photon emitters.
The project involves advanced characterization techniques such as electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and photoluminescence spectroscopy to thoroughly analyze the physical and optical properties of the synthesized nanomaterials.
Keywords associated with this opportunity include nanocrystals, colloidal synthesis, quantum dots, photoluminescence, optoelectronics, nanoparticles, single-photon emitters, photodetectors, and quantum technology.
