Description
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Stipends program provides funding to individual researchers to stimulate new research and publication in the humanities. The award supports continuous, full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two consecutive months. Funds may be used for the recipient’s compensation, travel, and other costs directly related to the proposed scholarly research.
The program aims to support a wide range of individuals, including independent scholars, community college faculty, and non-teaching university staff. It is designed to fund projects at any stage of development, with particular emphasis on early-stage research and late-stage writing where small awards can be most effective.
This program is part of NEH’s broader initiative on Humanities Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence, encouraging research on the ethical, legal, and societal implications of AI.
Important: The Summer Stipends program will not be reoffered after the 2024 cycle. NEH has updated payment procedures to pay awards only to personal bank accounts starting August 2024.
