This program, administered by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), funds the design and creation of life-size statues of historical American figures for the National Garden of American Heroes. The initiative aims to celebrate the nation’s cultural, scientific, economic, and political heritage by honoring statesmen, visionaries, and innovators who have shaped American history. The National Garden is scheduled to open in July 2026, marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Each award supports the creation of up to three statues, selected from a list of eligible individuals provided in Executive Order 13978. Statues must be life-size and constructed from marble, granite, bronze, copper, or brass.
