Summary: Supports one organization to train medical residents in HIV prevention, diagnosis, care, and treatment by partnering with up to eight U.S. residency programs.
Key Information: Only one award will be made; no cost sharing required.
This opportunity funds a single organization to expand the national HIV clinical workforce by providing comprehensive education, training, and technical assistance to medical residents. The recipient will partner with up to eight geographically dispersed residency programs—prioritizing locations in areas with high HIV incidence or designated Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) jurisdictions. The goal is to enhance the capacity of new clinicians to prevent, diagnose, treat, and link individuals with HIV to care, ultimately supporting national strategies to reduce new HIV infections and improve care outcomes.
Key activities include developing and delivering didactic, experiential, and blended training; establishing an online collaborative learning community; implementing mentorship and career development pathways; and using the National HIV Curriculum as a core training tool. The program is intended to address projected shortages in the HIV care workforce and to increase the number of providers in underserved and high-need areas.
