This NSF program fosters interdisciplinary collaboration among K-12 educators, technologists, researchers, and parents/guardians to co-design innovative, technology-based solutions addressing persistent challenges in K-12 learning and workforce development. The initiative aims to create and scale evidence-based practices, tools, and technologies that improve learning outcomes and prepare students for a digital, AI-driven future. Early exposure to AI and digital skills is a major emphasis, aligning with national priorities such as the Executive Order on Advancing Artificial Intelligence Education for American Youth and the CHIPS and Science Act. The program is structured in two phases: (1) Planning—supporting early-stage team formation and exploration; and (2) Development—funding the growth and implementation of promising solutions. Only teams that receive a Planning award are eligible to compete for a Development award.
