Summary: Supports a centralized national resource for creation, breeding, and distribution of genetically modified swine models to advance biomedical research.
Key Information: This is a forecasted opportunity; dates and details are subject to change.
This opportunity provides support for the National Swine Resource and Research Center (NSRRC), a centralized national resource dedicated to the creation, breeding, cryopreservation, and distribution of genetically modified swine models. The NSRRC enables high-quality, reproducible biomedical research by supplying specific pathogen-free models, genotyping and phenotyping services, infectious disease monitoring, and protocol distribution. The Center also offers information and training on the care and use of these models, supports the evaluation of model suitability for human health and disease studies, and leads the development of alternative or complementary research approaches, including new approach methodologies (NAMs).
