    Description

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), in collaboration with other NIH Institutes, Centers, and Offices, anticipates supporting research under this initiative to improve Native American health outcomes. The program aims to:

    • Advance research on the causes of health problems within Native American communities to inform the creation or refinement of interventions.
    • Develop, adapt, or test interventions for health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, or recovery.
    • Support research on dissemination and implementation strategies to overcome barriers to adopting, integrating, scaling, and sustaining effective interventions.

A core focus is on interventions that leverage community knowledge, strengths, and resilience, with the goal of identifying and rigorously testing solutions to reduce morbidity and mortality in Native populations. Proposed interventions should be sustainable, flexible, and adaptable for broader use across different communities.
