Description
This opportunity, offered by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Portland District, funds a cooperative agreement for land stewardship, habitat restoration, and environmental education projects on USACE lands in Lane County, Oregon. The program specifically targets organizations that serve adjudicated youth with active cases in the Lane County Department of Juvenile Justice, providing them with meaningful job training, education, and opportunities to earn restitution, community service hours, high school credit, or vocational skills.
Projects will focus on native prairie and wildlife habitat restoration, campground maintenance, vegetation management for dam safety, and related activities at Willamette Valley Project sites such as Fern Ridge, Lookout Point, Dexter, Fall Creek, Dorena, and Cottage Grove Lakes. The agreement is designed to benefit both the environment and participating youth, who will gain practical work experience and ecological knowledge under the supervision of experienced crew leaders.
