--- ## Description This open call, part of the NGI Fediversity initiative funded by the European Commission, supports projects that further the development of easy-to-use, secure, and open cloud services and infrastructure. The program’s core aims are to promote service portability, personal freedom, and trustworthy IT systems for everyday use, without tracking or exploitation. Projects should primarily focus on research and development and align with the Next Generation Internet (NGI) vision of a resilient, open, and human-centric internet. All funded outcomes must be published as open access, and any software or hardware produced must be released under a recognized free and open source license. Supported activities span scientific research, open source software/hardware development, technical validation, security audits, usability improvements, standardization, deployability, event participation, and project management. The initiative is built on the NixOS platform, aiming to simplify complex deployments while ensuring stability and configurability. --- ## Due Dates - October 1, 2025: Full application submission deadline (single-stage, 12:00 Brussels time) --- ## Funding Amount - Individual project grants: €5,000–€50,000 - Maximum total per third party (over the lifetime of the program): €60,000 - Total available in this call: approximately €365,000 - Project duration: typically 1–12 months (flexible) --- ## Eligibility - Open to individuals, companies, NGOs, and other legal entities from any country. - Proposals must: - Be written in English. - Have research and development as the primary objective. - Align with the [NGI vision](https://nlnet.nl/NGI/vision) and the specific Fediversity call aims. - Demonstrate a clear European dimension. - All outputs must be published as open access; all software/hardware must be under a recognized open source license. - Applicants may submit multiple proposals but cannot exceed €60,000 in total funding from this program. - Paid staff of consortium partners and their close affiliates are not eligible. --- ## Application Process - Submit proposals via the [NLnet application portal](https://nlnet.nl/propose). - Proposals should be concise (no more than two pages for the main application). - Review the [Guide for Applicants](https://nlnet.nl/fediversity/guideforapplicants) and [FAQ](https://nlnet.nl/fediversity/faq/) before submission. - Evaluation is two-stage: 1.
