Description
This opportunity, offered by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at NIH, funds research education programs designed to enhance the training of clinical researchers and clinicians in substance use and substance use disorder (SUD) research. The program aims to address the national need for a well-trained workforce capable of advancing biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research in substance use and SUDs.
The program supports creative educational activities with a primary focus on:
- Courses for Skills Development: Advanced research methods, data analysis, ethical considerations, community-engaged research, grant writing, and scientific writing.
- Research Experiences: Active participation in substance use/SUD research, including planning, conducting, and disseminating findings from studies in laboratory, clinical, or community settings.
The program is intended for individuals in clinically focused careers or those training to become clinicians, health service providers, or clinical researchers. The mechanism cannot be used for non-research-related clinical training.
