    Description

The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) Clinical Research Center Grant (P50) supports the establishment of multidisciplinary centers focused on advancing clinical research in the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and amelioration of human sensory and communication disorders. Research must be centered on individuals with sensory and/or communication disorders, or on data/tissues derived from such individuals. Examples include studies of hearing, balance, smell, taste, voice, speech, or language.

Centers must propose 3–4 synergistic research projects integrated around a unifying theme, supported by an administrative core (required) and up to two optional scientific cores. Projects may involve low-risk clinical trials (optional), as well as non-human or at-risk human research if scientifically justified. The program is designed to foster innovative, integrated approaches that have impact beyond the sum of individual projects.
