    Description

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) seeks to continue the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Genetics Consortium (IBDGC) by supporting up to seven Genomic Research Centers. These centers will focus on leveraging patient cohorts, biospecimens, and advanced data science to understand the interactions among genetic, clinical, and environmental factors in IBD development and progression. The ultimate goal is to develop new predictors of disease outcomes, improve medical management, and advance precision medicine for IBD patients. The IBDGC has previously identified over 300 genetic risk loci for different IBD subtypes and aims to address the ongoing need for diagnostic biomarkers and predictors of critical outcomes such as remission, recurrence, and therapeutic response.
