This NIH opportunity supports outstanding graduate students in the biomedical, behavioral, or clinical sciences to transition into postdoctoral research careers focused on Down syndrome (DS) and its co-occurring conditions. The award (F99/K00) is designed to recruit and retain talented trainees from a broad range of disciplines—including genetics, biochemistry, data science, imaging, engineering, and neurobiology—who are committed to advancing DS-related research. The program provides up to 6 years of support: 1–2 years for dissertation completion (F99 phase) and up to 4 years of mentored postdoctoral research and career development (K00 phase). The research must align with at least one of the three components of the NIH INCLUDE Project: basic science, cohort studies, or inclusive clinical trials for DS.
