This opportunity provides intensive, mentored research career development support to early-career scientists from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) who hold junior faculty positions at LMIC academic or research institutions. The program aims to foster the next generation of research leaders in LMICs by providing protected time and resources for research and career development activities relevant to the health priorities of their home countries. The award is designed for those not proposing to lead an independent clinical trial, but applicants may gain experience in a clinical trial led by a mentor.
The program is supported by the Fogarty International Center and multiple NIH Institutes and Centers, and is intended to increase scientific capacity for health research at LMIC institutions and promote long-term collaborations with U.S. scientists.
