    Description

This opportunity provides support for exploratory and developmental research projects in the early and conceptual stages. The program is designed to encourage novel scientific ideas, model systems, tools, agents, targets, and technologies that have the potential to substantially advance biomedical, behavioral, or clinical research. Projects may involve considerable risk but could lead to breakthroughs or the development of innovative techniques, methodologies, or applications that have significant impact. This funding announcement does not accept applications proposing clinical trials.

Participating NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) support a broad range of research areas, but not all ICs participate in this parent announcement. Applicants should confirm that their research area aligns with the mission and interests of a participating IC before applying.
