Description
This opportunity supports the renewal of the MACS/WIHS Combined Cohort Study (MWCCS), a major epidemiological cohort of approximately 5,700 middle-aged and older adults living with HIV (PLWH) and comparable individuals without HIV (PLWOH) across the United States. The funded Leadership and Coordination Center (LACC) will provide scientific, clinical, and operational leadership for the MWCCS, coordinating data collection, participant engagement, scientific work groups, and communications. The initiative employs a "populomics" approach, examining health determinants across molecular, physiological, behavioral, social, and environmental levels to better understand the health, quality of life, and survival of adults living with HIV.
The LACC will be responsible for developing and implementing a Joint Unified Modular Protocol (JUMP) for data collection, supporting community advisory boards, ensuring high standards in participant safety and data quality, and promoting the cohort as a platform for collaborative HIV research. The LACC will work closely with companion Clinical Research Sites (CRS) and a Data Analysis and Sharing Center (DASC), funded under separate but parallel opportunities.
