Description
This opportunity from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) encourages applications for investigator-initiated, prospective observational comparative effectiveness research (CER) in clinical neurosciences. The focus is on studies that address questions within the NINDS mission, evaluating preventive strategies, diagnostic approaches, or interventions (including drugs, biologics, devices, surgical, behavioral, or rehabilitation therapies) in real-world settings. The program uses a two-phase cooperative agreement (UG3/UH3): an initial planning phase (UG3, up to 2 years) followed by an implementation phase (UH3, up to 5 years), contingent on milestone achievement.
Only prospective observational studies are eligible; clinical trials, meta-analyses, pooled secondary analyses, and implementation research are out of scope. NINDS is particularly interested in pragmatic, cost-effective study designs and encourages research in populations experiencing health disparities or under-researched conditions.
