Key Information: This is a notice of intent; applications are not yet being solicited.
Description
The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) at NIH intends to issue a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for a single-source cooperative agreement to continue the Integrated Islet Distribution Program (IIDP) at the Beckman Research Institute/City of Hope. The IIDP is a critical resource for the diabetes research community, providing human islets for biomedical research to advance understanding of islet cell biology and support the development of new therapies for diabetes prevention and treatment.
The program manages partnerships with islet isolation facilities, oversees the distribution of human islets, manages investigator eligibility and cost recovery, and ensures standardized phenotypic and genotypic analyses of distributed islet preparations. This notice is intended to give potential applicants time to develop collaborations and responsive projects in anticipation of the forthcoming NOFO.
