--- ## Description The Nina McClelland Memorial Award honors the legacy of Dr. Nina McClelland, a leader in green chemistry, by providing travel support for postdoctoral scholars to attend and present their research at the annual Green Chemistry & Engineering Conference (GC&E), organized by the ACS Green Chemistry Institute. The award specifically reimburses travel expenses and recognizes recipients at the conference for their contributions to green chemistry and engineering. --- ## Due Dates - Applications open: September 1, 2025 - Application deadline: November 3, 2025, 11:59 p.m. EDT - Notification of award: On or before January 30, 2026 Awardees are responsible for meeting the abstract submission deadline for the 2026 GC&E Conference. --- ## Funding Amount - Two awards of $2,000 each per year - Funds are designated for travel reimbursement to attend and present at the GC&E Conference --- ## Eligibility - Open to postdoctoral scholars (U.S. and international) conducting research in green chemistry and/or engineering - Research must address at least one of the following: - Maximization of resource efficiency - Elimination and reduction of toxics and pollution - Holistic design of systems - Use of life cycle thinking - Applicants may only apply for one ACS Green Chemistry award per year (cannot apply to Breen, CIBA, Chang, or Hancock awards in the same cycle) - Awardees must present their research at the GC&E Conference and submit a brief report after the event --- ## Application Process 1. **Application Portal**: Submit applications through the [ACS Green Chemistry Institute application portal](https://gci.acs.org/). An ACS ID (free to create) is required. 2. **Required Materials**: - Applicant and mentor contact information - Academic and research details, including institution, department, degree information, research interests, and career plans - One-page research description and statement of benefit from conference participation - CV or résumé (max two pages) - Letter of nomination from faculty advisor, supervisor, or department chair (max two pages) - Brief statement of financial need for travel support (max one page) - Letters/statements must be uploaded directly by the advisor via a link provided by the applicant 3. **Selection**: Applications are reviewed by an independent panel of experts from diverse sectors.
