--- ## Description This opportunity from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) invites applications to serve as the Human Biospecimen and Data Repository for Biomarkers Research in Neurological Disorders. The repository will maintain and expand collections of biospecimens (such as DNA, RNA, plasma, serum, cerebrospinal fluid, and other biological samples), and distribute them to qualified academic and industry researchers. The goal is to foster discovery, validation, and sharing of neurological biomarkers and to support basic, translational, and clinical research in neurological diseases. Applicants are expected to demonstrate expertise in biobanking, neuroscience, biomarker research, biospecimen handling, and data management. The repository must provide infrastructure for biobanking and distribution, data management, quality control, and web-based access for the research community. Successful proposals will include detailed plans for administration, resource management, and data sharing. --- ## Due Dates - **Letter of Intent Deadline:** September 20, 2020 - **Full Application Deadline:** October 20, 2020 (by 5:00 PM local time of applicant organization) All applications must be submitted via Grants.gov. No late applications are accepted. --- ## Funding Amount - **Total Program Funding:** Up to $1,500,000 (total costs) for FY 2021 - **Expected Number of Awards:** 1 - **Award Duration:** Up to 5 years - **Budget:** Application budgets are not limited but must reflect actual project needs. No cost sharing or matching is required. --- ## Eligibility Eligible applicants include: - Public and private institutions of higher education (including HBCUs, Hispanic-serving, Tribal, and other minority-serving institutions) - Nonprofit organizations (with or without 501(c)(3) status) - For-profit organizations (including small businesses) - State, county, city, township, and special district governments - Independent school districts - Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities - Native American tribal governments (federally recognized and other) - Faith-based or community-based organizations - Regional organizations - U.S. territories and possessions - Eligible agencies of the federal government **Note:** - Non-domestic (non-U.S.) entities and non-domestic components of U.S. organizations are not eligible to apply. - Foreign components, as defined by the NIH Grants Policy Statement, are allowed within U.S. organizations. --- ## Application Process - **Letter of Intent:** Not required but encouraged. Should include project title, PI and key personnel, institutions, and FOA number.
