Description
This opportunity supports R21 exploratory/developmental research projects that align with the 2022–2026 National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) Strategic Plan. The focus is on innovative, contextually grounded research rooted in nursing’s holistic approach, aiming to address the nation’s most pressing and persistent health challenges. Projects should inform practice and policy, employ rigorous and innovative study designs, and leverage one or more of NINR’s research lenses: health disparities, social determinants of health, population and community health, prevention and health promotion, and systems and models of care.
Projects must go beyond individual-level symptom or behavior studies and meaningfully incorporate the NINR research lenses in their conceptual framework. The R21 mechanism is intended for early-stage, high-risk/high-reward research that may lead to future, more substantial studies.
