Summary: Supports regional centers conducting research, education, and outreach to improve occupational safety and health in U.S. agriculture, forestry, and fishing sectors.
This opportunity will fund up to twelve regional Centers for Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing Safety and Health (AgFF Centers) to advance the mission of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). The Centers are expected to address the high rates of occupational injury, illness, and fatality among AgFF workers, as well as related issues such as mental health, suicide, and substance use. Funded centers will conduct multidisciplinary research (with an emphasis on intervention and implementation science), translate research into practical solutions, develop and evaluate technology (including AI and automation), engage with partners at regional and national levels, and improve data collection and coordination. The goal is to have significant and sustained impact on worker safety, health, and well-being in these critical sectors.
