The New Jersey Department of Education’s Office of Career Readiness administers this fifth-year continuation grant to provide statewide leadership and coordination for DECA. Local chapters serve secondary students at local educational agencies. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for college and careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and entrepreneurship.
The program supports co-curricular activities, competitive events, awards, student leadership development, and professional development for teachers and advisors. Its goals include strengthening career readiness, self-confidence, leadership skills, and realistic career choices. The statewide program must also recruit students, include special populations, expand participation, and manage grant and student organization accounts. Activities connect classroom instruction with real-world academic and career and technical education experiences.
