The New Jersey Department of Education’s Office of Career Readiness administers this fifth-year continuation grant to provide statewide leadership and coordination for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). Local chapters serve secondary students through student-led organizations. FCCLA promotes careers in family and consumer sciences to enhance the delivery of quality family and community services.
The program supports co-curricular activities, competitive events, awards, student leadership development, and professional development for teachers and advisors. Its goals include building students’ competencies, self-confidence, pride in their accomplishments, leadership skills, and ability to make realistic career choices. Statewide priorities include recruiting students, including special populations, expanding participation, and managing grant and student organization funds.
