The New Jersey Department of Education’s Office of Career Readiness administers this fifth-year continuation grant to provide statewide leadership for HOSA, a student-led career and technical student organization promoting health care careers and quality health care. Local chapters serve secondary students through local educational agencies. The program develops students’ career readiness, confidence, leadership skills, and ability to make realistic career choices.
Funding supports the administration and coordination of co-curricular activities, competitive events, awards, student leadership opportunities, and professional development for teachers and advisors. Priorities include student recruitment, inclusion of special populations, statewide collaboration, and sound management of grant and student organization accounts. Activities connect academic and career and technical education studies with real-world experiences and current industry standards.
