    Description

The New Jersey Department of Education’s fifth-year continuation program supports statewide leadership through state advisors for the Technology Student Association (TSA). Administered by the Office of Career Readiness, it supports a student-led organization that enhances personal development, leadership, and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math. Local chapters operate at local education agencies serving secondary students.

The program supports co-curricular activities, competitive events, awards, student leadership activities, and professional development for teachers and advisors. Its priorities include recruiting students, including special populations, strengthening statewide partnerships, and managing grant and student organization accounts. These activities connect classroom instruction with real-world career and technical education experiences while developing students’ confidence, leadership skills, and ability to make realistic career choices.
