Description
This NIH opportunity, led by the National Library of Medicine (NLM), funds research projects in biomedical informatics and data science. The program is designed to advance innovative, scalable, and reusable approaches for biomedical data discovery, curation, analysis, and management. Projects should contribute to biomedical discovery, clinical care, public health, and personal wellness by developing new methods, tools, or resources that are generalizable and reproducible.
Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Novel informatics and data science methods for large-scale biomedical data analysis.
- Approaches for integrating structured and unstructured data (e.g., natural language processing).
- Advanced information retrieval, knowledge discovery, and visualization.
- Methods to address algorithmic bias/fairness and enhance decision support, especially for underserved populations.
- Informatics strategies to improve public health outcomes and address health disparities.
The program encourages multidisciplinary, team science approaches, and supports projects that may include small, early-stage clinical trials.
