Description
This funding opportunity provides federal financial and technical support for habitat restoration projects that align with NOAA’s mission and the goals of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI). The focus is on restoring, protecting, and enhancing habitats critical to sustaining healthy populations of native fish species in the eight U.S. Great Lakes states. Projects should address GLRI priorities, specifically implementing management actions in Areas of Concern (AOC) and restoring habitats for native fish species impacted by habitat degradation. Priority is given to projects identified by Lake Committees as Environmental Priorities.
Eligible activities include on-the-ground restoration, feasibility studies, engineering and design, permitting, stakeholder engagement, monitoring, and education/outreach. Projects are encouraged to provide co-benefits such as enhancing community resilience to climate hazards and supporting underserved communities.
