Description
This opportunity supports a research project aimed at improving local and national surveillance of nonfatal drug overdoses in emergency departments (EDs) across the United States. The project seeks to collect and analyze toxicologically confirmed data from ED patients, conduct structured interviews to understand substance use patterns, and compare findings with data on the illicit drug supply. The ultimate goal is to identify gaps in drug testing protocols, facilitate information sharing among public health and safety organizations, and coordinate informed responses to the evolving drug crisis. The awardee will establish partnerships with hospitals, laboratories, and public safety organizations to collect, analyze, and disseminate actionable insights that can shape prevention and treatment strategies.
