Description
The Nontidal Wetlands Awards Program, administered by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Chesapeake Bay Trust in partnership with the Maryland Department of the Environment, provides funding for projects in Maryland that restore, create, enhance, or preserve nontidal wetlands. The program aims to deliver ecological benefits such as improved habitat for wildlife, enhanced water quality, flood attenuation, groundwater recharge, and aesthetic improvements in local watersheds. Funded projects are intended to benefit the Chesapeake Bay, Youghiogheny River, and Atlantic Coastal Bays. Priority is given to projects that maximize acres of forested wetlands and are located within designated priority watersheds.
