Key Information: Pre-proposal required; full proposals by invitation; U.S.-based nonprofit institutions only.
The American Heart Association (AHA) is offering a major funding opportunity to support groundbreaking research that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to transform cardiovascular and cerebrovascular/brain health. This initiative seeks proposals that utilize AI—including machine learning, generative AI, and robotic process automation—to improve detection, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and longitudinal management of cardiovascular and brain diseases.
Priority is given to translational projects with clear paths to clinical implementation and scalability. Areas of focus include in-hospital and electronic health record-based solutions, community-based digital health, chronic-care management, and applications in cardio-kidney-metabolic syndrome, brain health, food science/nutrition, sudden death/CPR, and women’s health. Proposals must address responsible and ethical AI deployment, reduction of bias, and improved patient outcomes. Awardees will collaborate with the AHA Oversight Advisory Committee and are encouraged to use the AHA Precision Medicine Platform for data analysis.
