Chemistry grant program testing removal of deadlines for proposal submissions in CLP, CSD, CTMC programs to enhance flexibility and interdisciplinary research.
Funder: National Science Foundation
Due Dates: Proposals accepted anytime (CLP, CSD, CTMC programs only)
Funding Amounts: Approx. $45 million total; ~105 awards; typical award size/duration varies by program
Summary: Pilot program allowing chemistry research proposals in select areas to be submitted year-round, increasing flexibility and supporting interdisciplinary work.
Key Information: Applies only to Chemistry of Life Processes, Chemical Structure and Dynamics, and Chemical Theory, Models and Computational Methods programs.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Chemistry is piloting a no-deadline submission process for three of its core disciplinary research programs: Chemistry of Life Processes (CLP), Chemical Structure and Dynamics (CSD), and Chemical Theory, Models and Computational Methods (CTMC). This initiative is designed to provide principal investigators with greater flexibility in proposal timing and to better support interdisciplinary research efforts. The pilot aims to assess the impact of removing fixed deadlines on the chemistry research community, including potential benefits and challenges for researchers, reviewers, and institutions.
This opportunity is open only to proposals targeting the CLP, CSD, and CTMC programs. Proposals for other chemistry programs must follow their respective solicitations and deadlines.
