Key Information: Highly recommended to contact a Program Director before submitting proposals over $50,000.
This program supports crosscutting activities within the Division of Materials Research (DMR) and across the National Science Foundation (NSF) that advance diversity and inclusion, international collaboration, and innovative education in materials research. Activities eligible for support include summer schools, institutes, workshops, and conferences that broadly engage the community and do not fit within other specific DMR programs. The program also encourages outreach and educational projects targeting underserved populations and efforts to increase public scientific literacy. Projects that span several DMR programs or are highly relevant to the materials research and education community but do not fit elsewhere at NSF are welcome. Traditional research proposals suitable for topical DMR programs are not handled by this opportunity.
