    Description

This initiative, jointly supported by the NSF Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) and the NIH National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), funds innovative research at the interface of the mathematical/statistical and biological/biomedical sciences. The program aims to advance foundational quantitative methods to address important biological questions, stimulate new collaborations, and support high-impact interdisciplinary teams. Projects must clearly articulate both the mathematical/statistical novelty and the biological/biomedical significance, with a strong preference for collaborative work spanning both disciplines. All proposals must align with the NIGMS mission, focusing on fundamental biological processes rather than disease-specific or organ-specific research.
