Description
This program, administered by the NSF Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS), aims to enhance formal partnerships between U.S. minority-serving institutions (MSIs) and DMS-supported Mathematical Sciences Research Institutes. The goal is to increase the participation of groups underrepresented in the mathematical sciences by supporting research leaves and collaborative activities for MSI faculty, and by providing opportunities for students and postdocs from MSIs to engage in research programs at leading mathematical sciences institutes.
A typical award supports a faculty member from an eligible MSI for a year-long research leave at a partner institute, with additional support for travel, salary, and the involvement of students or postdoctoral associates. The program is designed to build research capacity at MSIs, foster long-term collaborations, and contribute to a more diverse mathematical sciences workforce.
