Description
This program aims to address the national shortage of qualified nursing faculty by providing funding to accredited schools of nursing. The schools, in turn, offer low-interest loans to students pursuing careers as nurse faculty. Graduates who go on to serve full-time as faculty (including Advanced Practice Registered Nurses acting as preceptors in academic-practice partnerships) may have up to 85% of their loan principal and interest canceled over four years of service. The initiative is designed to expand the pipeline of nurse educators and promote the sustainability of nursing education programs across the United States.
