Description
The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food & Forestry’s Healthy Food Financing Program finances food retailers serving underserved communities that primarily serve low- or moderate-income residents. It supports construction of new grocery stores and small food retailers, as well as renovations, expansions, and infrastructure upgrades to existing stores that improve the availability and quality of fresh produce and other healthy foods.
The program connects food retail development with access to nutritious options where that access is limited. Approved retailers must make space for perishable foods, accept nutrition assistance benefits, hire local residents, and participate in data collection.
