Description
The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Fiscal Year 2025 Research and Evaluation Initiative invites applications under two distinct but related efforts:

Research and Evaluation Initiative: This initiative funds research and evaluation projects focused on preventing and addressing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking (collectively referred to as gender-based violence). The goal is to generate knowledge about effective strategies for victim services and offender accountability, helping communities that receive VAWA funding to align their programs with evidence-based practices. The initiative supports a variety of research methodologies, including qualitative, mixed-method, quasi-experimental, and experimental designs. Due to limited funding, priority is given to topics that will most effectively help OVW recipients use federal funds.

Research and Evaluation Capacity-building Project: This special initiative aims to enhance the field’s ability to identify effective practices and service gaps by fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing between practitioners and emerging scholars. It focuses on developing skills in evidence-informed decision-making and building sustainable networks among those working to address gender-based violence. Practitioners gain practical tools and insights, while emerging scholars gain real-world research experience.
OVW’s overall mission is to reduce gender-based violence and improve services to victims by supporting research that informs policy and practice.
