Description
This opportunity funds U.S.-based organizations to conduct ocean mapping, seabed exploration, habitat and resource characterization, and data management and analysis in Pacific Island Countries (PICs). The program seeks to generate high-quality scientific data to support responsible seabed mineral management and informed decision-making by PIC governments. Activities are expected to include multiple expeditions, data delivery, environmental studies, and capacity building with local governments and stakeholders. The program is part of a broader U.S. government initiative to advance seabed mapping and exploration in partnership with NOAA and the Department of the Interior.
