Description
This opportunity funds U.S.-based institutions, companies, or organizations to conduct ocean mapping, seabed exploration, habitat and resource characterization, and data management and analysis in Pacific Island Countries (PICs). The aim is to generate scientific data to support responsible seabed mineral management, inform resource development decisions, and build regulatory and technical capacity in the Pacific region. Projects must engage with PIC governments and stakeholders, complement ongoing U.S. government efforts, and deliver high-quality data to inform policy and management.
The program is part of a broader U.S. government initiative to advance seabed mapping and exploration in the Pacific, supporting economic and environmental objectives and strengthening U.S. partnerships in the region. Activities should include expedition planning and execution, data delivery, capacity building, and partnership development.
