--- ## Description This grant program, managed by the Greater New Orleans Foundation in partnership with the City of New Orleans Department of Parks & Parkways, funds nonprofit organizations to plant trees on public property throughout New Orleans. The initiative’s goal is to help plant 40,000 new trees citywide by 2030, contributing to environmental restoration, urban canopy expansion, and improved community health and vibrancy. No general operating, fundraising, or lobbying costs. --- ## Eligibility - **Eligible applicants:** Tax-exempt nonprofit organizations located in Orleans Parish. - **Past grantees:** Must have completed planting and reporting for any previous Parks & Parkways tree planting grants. - **Other requirements:** Projects must involve planting trees on public property in New Orleans. **Priority is given to organizations that:** - Demonstrate strong leadership and fiscal management - Have a proven track record of tree planting success - Show organizational capacity and a commitment to equity - Engage community members as leaders and advisors - Make key contributions to community health and vibrancy --- ## Application Process - **Submission:** Complete proposals (including all supporting materials) must be submitted via the Foundation’s [online portal](https://www.grantinterface.com/Common/LogOn.aspx?eqs=3QVk173peTkdf68KZmYgsg2). - **Account setup:** Organizations must have or create a profile in the portal to apply and track grant status. - **Required materials:** Detailed application form, supporting documents, and (if applicable) evidence of completed prior grants. - **Permitting:** All tree planting projects require a permit from the Department of Parks & Parkways. Applications must include aerial imagery for multi-property projects, or a detailed sketch for single-property projects. - **Reporting:** Grantees must submit interim and final programmatic and financial reports.
