The Pathways of Public Service & Civic Engagement initiative, co-led by Campus Compact and the Haas Center for Public Service at Stanford University, provides a research-based framework and survey for higher education institutions. Its goal is to advance understanding of students’ interests and predispositions toward various approaches to social change, enabling improved student advising, tailored programming, and comparative research across institutions. The framework recognizes multiple, issue-based pathways for civic engagement, supporting longitudinal research and fostering a shared language for civic and community engagement in higher education. Participating institutions gain access to the Pathways survey, working group collaboration, and aggregate data for program development and research.
