Description
This program from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration (ETA) aims to accelerate the growth and expansion of the National Apprenticeship System. The initiative provides incentive payments to Registered Apprenticeship (RA) program sponsors, focusing on industries with strong infrastructure and the potential to significantly boost the number of active apprentices nationwide. The program prioritizes rapid scaling of both new and existing RA programs, especially in targeted sectors such as Shipbuilding and Defense Industrial Base, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Semiconductors, Nuclear Energy Infrastructure, Information Technology, Healthcare, Transportation, and Telecommunications. One award will also support expansion in other industries not specifically listed.
The Department anticipates awarding up to five cooperative agreements, each with a four-year period of performance. The structure emphasizes objectivity and separation in the administration of incentive payments, with strict requirements to avoid conflicts of interest for lead applicants.
