Description
This opportunity funds the creation and operation of four Pediatric Disaster Care Centers of Excellence (PEDs COEs) to strengthen the nation’s ability to provide coordinated, specialized care for children during disasters and public health emergencies. Each center will serve as a regional hub for pediatric disaster preparedness, planning, coordination, education, training, situational awareness, and surge capability. The program aims to address gaps in pediatric disaster care, with a focus on trauma, burns, infectious diseases (including pandemic influenza), chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear incidents, as well as behavioral and mental health needs.
