Summary: Supports final-stage preclinical development of products (drugs, devices, or knowledge tools) for clinical application in congressionally directed medical topic areas relevant to military health.

Key Information: Clinical trials are not allowed; strong preliminary data and alignment with FY26 PRMRP topic areas and strategic goals are required.

    Description

This opportunity supports translational research that advances promising preclinical findings into products ready for clinical application, including prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, or quality of life improvements for diseases or conditions within the FY26 Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP) topic areas. Eligible products include tangible items (such as drugs or devices) and knowledge products (such as clinical decision-making tools or practice guidelines). The program is designed to bridge the gap between validated preclinical research and regulatory submission or clinical practice implementation, with a focus on health needs of military Service Members, Veterans, and their Families.

The research must be in the final stages of preclinical development, supported by strong preliminary data (proof of concept, prototype, or equivalent), and should lead to a regulatory filing (such as IND/IDE) or direct clinical translation. Projects must address one congressionally directed FY26 PRMRP topic area and one strategic goal, with clear relevance to military health.
