Summary: Supports preparation of qualified personnel in special education, early intervention, and related services using evidence-based strategies.
This grant supports the development and expansion of programs that prepare personnel to serve children with disabilities, from infancy through school age, in special education, early intervention, and related services. Administered by the Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), the initiative seeks to address state-identified shortages and ensure that professionals have the skills and knowledge, grounded in scientifically based research, to improve outcomes for children with disabilities. Projects must use evidence-based strategies to prepare scholars at the bachelor's, certification, master's, educational specialist, or clinical doctoral degree levels. Two focus areas are supported: preparing personnel to serve infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children with disabilities, and preparing personnel to serve school-age children with disabilities.
